About Us
Launched in 2007 Ludlow Food Centre has strived to offer the best fresh, local, seasonal and handmade food. The Centre is set in the Earl of Plymouth’s Oakly Park Estate in Bromfield on the outskirts of Ludlow. All of our beef, lamb, and rare breed Gloucester Old Spot pork comes from the Estate along with a selection of fruit and vegetables from Lady Windsor’s Walled Garden. We understand the seasonality of British produce, the variety that is on offer throughout the year and we are committed to sourcing 80% of our produce and products from just four counties. We have built relationships with growers and producers in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Powys who provide the Centre with fresh food that only travels a short distance to ensure it is in peak condition.
The Food Centre has a unique layout that includes 8 production kitchens, a spacious food hall and a conference centre. Adjacent to the Centre is the Conservatory Barn Cafe and our very own Post Office. Across the A49 we are creating a picnic area alongside the river Onny that will be ready in 2011.
Unlike many farm shops we produce 50% of the food we sell on the premises. Our 8 production kitchens produce and prepare bread, cheese, meat, jams, pickles, chutneys, readymade meals and deli products. By sourcing produce ourselves and making 50% of the food we sell we have complete control over the quality and variety on offer. Our staff are all encouraged to pursue new ideas and create products that encapsulate the fresh, local, seasonal produce that is available to us. The Food Centre employs over 80 people including artisan producers, butchers, chefs, retail and operational staff.
We care for our surroundings and are constantly looking for ways to work with more local growers, producers and farmers to support both the local economy and the beautiful countryside. Our aim is to show every customer that we think, care and understand about food and that this can be appreciated by enjoying any of our products.
