Ludlow Food Centre Highly Commended in latest awards
Ludlow Food Centre has been Highly Commended in the latest round of national artisan food and drink awards.
The Bromfield-based food hall was pipped to being named Best Independent Retailer for the Midlands region in The 2016 Great British Food Awards, voted for by readers of Great British Food Magazine since April. The winner in the category was Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop, in Bakewell, Derbyshire.
Now in their third year, the Great British Food Awards were set up to provide a platform for the skilled, passionate and often unsung artisans behind the nation’s finest speciality food and drink. Going from strength to strength, the awards have quickly become a benchmark of excellence in the world of food, drink, restaurants and retail.
Managing Director at Ludlow Food Centre, Jon Edwards, said of the news: "Recognition of any kind is always very satisfying, particularly when our loyal customers have voted for us to win.
"The Food Centre has had a brilliant run of awards success recently and the fact that the Great British Food Awards are voted for by the public is testament that the team in Bromfield are doing all the right things.
"Everyone works very hard to deliver quality produce and a first class customer experience so this is a particularly rewarding achievement.”
Great British Food magazine has a circulation of 44,700 and is the only national food title 100% dedicated to British produce, with top chef interviews, amazing food stories and more than 50 mouth-watering recipes per issue.
Magazine editor, Natasha Lovell-Smith, visited South Shropshire in January and received a tour of the Food Centre and the Oakly Park Estate.
A full list of winners in all 31 categories will be featured in the October issue of Great British Food magazine, on sale September 2nd.
